Professional Skills Courses

To optimally train MICMoR Fellows for future careers in all kinds of work fields, their transferable skills and competencies need to be fostered. These so-called professional skills are as important for young scientists as scientific and technical training. They include training in presentation techniques, scientific writing, research and project management, intercultural communication & cooperation, conflict management and leadership skills.

The Helmholtz Association offers 3 Professional Skills Courses to all PhD students of Helmholtz Research Schools. The courses are run by Dr. Esat Alpay, University of Surrey, UK.
  1. Research Skills Development Course (for 1st year students)
  2. Presentation and Communication Skills Course (for 2nd year students)
  3. Career and Leadership Course (for 3rd year students)

These courses are only open to MICMoR Fellows.
